Healthy Weight Loss Lentil Soup Recipe

Lentils are a rich source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Lentils are great for our health, help in losing weight and a great source of protein for vegetarians. That's why lentils are getting their popularity and becoming a regular pantry staple. 

There are many different kinds of lentils, I am going to share the recipe of my favorite orange lentils because they are very easy and fast to cook with great taste & full of health benefits.This soup will help you in losing weight & also nourish your body with vitamins & minerals.

In this recipe, I am cooking lentils with Indian spices. You can skip Indian spices or switch with the spices you like. I cook my soup with Indian Spices because they are very good for our health and skin. Indian spices are natural metabolism booster thus helps in weight loss.

COOKING TIME: 15-20 minutes

                                   1 Small Onion
                                   1 Tomato
                                   1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
                                   1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
                                   1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
                                   1/2  tsp Cumin Seeds
                                   1/2 tsp salt 
                                   2 Green chilies (finely chopped)
                                   1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste 
                                   4-5 Cups Water
                                   2 tsp Olive Oil 
                                   Fresh Cilantro/Coriander 

1. Take the lentils in a bowl and rinse well. You will have to rinse 4-5 times.
2. Cut tomato and onion into dice size. Also roughly chop some cilantro.
3. Add lentils, 3 cups of water, tomato and the spices in a soup pot and turn on the heat.
4. Once it starts to boil, cover the lid and let it cook. Stir occasionally and keep checking if it needs more water.
5. While soup is cooking, take a small pan and add oil in it, once the oil is hot add whole cumin seeds.
6. When cumin seed will start crackling and start giving its nice aroma, add onions in it and saute them until they turn golden brown. Once it's done turn off the stove.
7. Now check your lentils, they should be done in 10 minutes.  Add the onions now, it will give the soup very nice flavor. 
8. Now, you can also add more water to your soup, if you don't like it thick depending on the consistency you like. 
9. You can also add cilantro at this point. After 2 minutes turn off your stove.

Your lentil soup is ready to enjoy. You can serve this soup with rice, bread or salad.

EXTRA WEIGHT LOSS TIP: Skip the number 5 step for no oil recipe. Add onion with all the ingredients together in the soup pot and let it cook for 15 minutes. ENJOY!!
